‘The Book of Days’ by Francesca Kay
The book is available from World of Books at £6.60 and other second hand online book sellers. There is also a copy in the Crowthorne Library.
It is a fictional diary by a wife of the lord of a local manor, during the final months of King Henry V111 reign. Her dying husband is determined to have a chapel made for him and his family where prayers will be said for eternity for his soul. The reformation is starting and it impacts the village where they live. It tells the tale of fast changing religious beliefs, from Catholicism to Protestantism.
